I've been loving the short suit look since last summer, but not willing to bite the bullet on an official suit.
Wanting to try the style, I grabbed my new white blazer and trusty white shorts.
I'm really feeling the look so maybe i'll take the plunge on a real short suit now.

This past weekend I celebrated a good friend Jillian's birthday on a pirate ship!

After an afternoon of folly's and almost missing the boat, we sailed around the Potomac for a few hours admiring the sites and enjoying a lot of champagne.

The above outfit is what I sported for my day at sea and below you will find a few pictures of my friends and I thoroughly enjoying the beautiful mild summer weather we are having.

I wore this cute backless(not shown) romper to my aunt's 65th birthday bash a few weeks ago behind the coffee shop she owns in Del Ray Alexandria.

With 2 live bands, lots of food, and her famous sangria, I couldn't have imagined a better way to have spent a beautiful Sunday with family and friends.

And if you're ever in Del Ray, make sure to pop into St.Elmo's coffee shop.
You won't regret it :)

Wedding season is upon us (and our wallets).

I am attending a handful of weddings this summer and while I am very excited to see all of my friends say "I do", I am a little stressed in deciding what to wear to each event.

I have come up with a few ways to look fashionable at all your summer weddings while still on a budget.

Tip #1: discount retail stores

Stores like Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, and Off Saks are great places to find nice dresses for any summer wedding. Stores like these are always full of hidden gems you just have to have some patience to find them

I grabbed this awesome Kate Spade Saturday dress at my local TJ Maxx a few weeks ago.

It was perfect for an afternoon barn wedding I attended this past weekend for my college roommate, Tara.

It was originally $150 and I scored it for $30. #winning.

Dressed up or down, it has become a go-to piece for easy dressing which totally makes it worth the $30.

I have yet to decide if I really like this outfit or not.

Sometimes it is trial and error to find the really good outfits hidden within one's closet.

Like I said, I am still on the fence with being 100% in love with it and can almost guarantee 5 years from now, I will look back on this outfit and say "what the heck?!"

But fashion, and life, are all about trying new and different things to find what suits you.

and please disregard the giant band-aid. my curling wand got the best of me...
